About
Sleeping Cat Recipes is a collection of recipes I and other contributors came up with, in an effort to recreate our favorite dishes. I do this because my wife and I lost a lot of weight in 2006, and we still like eating but now we are careful to watch what and where we eat – we don’t want to gain back the weight but still want to eat tasty and healthy foods.
Regardless whether you want to lose weight, try some of these recipes. They may or may not be as good as the ones you get from a restaurant, but they should be a healthy alternative and considerably less expensive to make than restaurant chow.
When try to lose weight don’t think you should avoid all restaurants – I believe that you are better off restricting fast food intake to places like Subway that provide low calorie and low fat menu options. I enjoy going to nice restaurants, including large chains, because that is a great place to taste new and different food and then go home and come up with my own low cal versions of those dishes.
I suggest everyone should be cautious about things written on the internet, and a case in point is AppleBee’s Quesadilla Burger. Before going to the restaurant I checked online and saw a website that said their Quesadilla Burger had 518 calories. I ordered it but it was swimming in cheese and it tasted like 80/20 ground beef – both are high in calories and fat. I made one at home and came in under 400 calories, which was alright for me. Upon further research, I found a different website (fatsecret.com) that said AppleBee’s quesadilla burger has a whopping 1420 calories! At a later date I found the same information on AppleBee’s site (kudos for honesty). When in doubt, do the math on the ingredients.
