Mike Hubbartt
Hi. I’m Mike. I am not a Dietician, Nutritionist, Professional Chef, Doctor, diet guru, infomercial rep, or famous author. I can’t give you health advise and feel your best source of health-related information is your doctor, not the internet. What I am is a person that likes to cook and eat tasty food. My favorite cuisines are Asian, Chinese (especially Hunan), Indian, British, Irish, Italian, Mexican, and Cajun. My favorite meals to prepare and eat are: breakfast, burgers, burger biscuits, shepard’s pie, creole meatloaf, stuffed peppers, and chicken perlou wraps.
I live with my wife of 25 yrs in Maple Grove, MN and we have a couple of cats (Lance and Mufasa) that demand as much attention as children.
I love reading, watching movies, learning, cooking, writing, flying (airplanes, not brooms), biking, and music. When I’m in school, I can usually be found with my nose buried in a book or a laptop – time is a precious commodity for college students and I usually take a lot of classes each semester.
I have worked as a developer and consultant for 20+ years in the IT field. My favorite programming languages are Java and C, and I’d like to get a gig doing C# development in the future.
I have also written for a number of technical magazines – US, Canadian, and European – and yes, I enjoy writing words as well as code. My most current online articles are on www.macworld.co.uk and www.softwarelatest.com. My editor at Software Latest is great – a real pleasure to work with and probably the most patient person I’ve met to date. I also have another blog dedicated to product reviews and environmental issues.
ABOUT CATS
Black cats have received a bad rap throughout history, but that didn’t stop in the middle ages. I’ve had 4 black cats, and our newest black feline is Mufasa, who we adopted through Cause for Paws in Roseville. When we met Jody, the lady from Cause for Paws, she was happy that I would even look at Mufasa. She said that she had taken Mufasa (his name at that time as Weston) to several adoption shows but no one would do more than look at him. Jody said she got him at Minneapolis Animal Control and he was covered with fleas and had a bad case of ear mites, but he was so passive she couldn’t let them put him down. She took him to the vet and wanted to find a good home for him. It didn’t take long to see he would be a good cat, so we got that night and he has been a happy member of our family ever since.
We’ve had Mufasa 5 years now, and have never regretted it. He likes to play as much now as when he was a kitten, although he is becoming more of a lap cat as he ages (not a bad thing to us).
If you want to get a pet – dog, cat, rabbit, whatever – try a pet adoption agency like Cause for Pause or Animal Ark Shelter. They are run by people dedicated to helping animals have a chance at a good life.
